A complete remodel for three generations living in a historic Mercer Island home, our goal for the Nakamura residence was to design a functional and well-connected space, full of thoughtful details which heighten everyday experiences. We created cohesion between private and shared spaces for their entire family, while incorporating design elements such as a connection to nature, lightness, minimalism, and sustainability. The team considered the balance between historical and modern — mixing glass and metal accents with an abundance of warm wood, expertly crafted by Plum’s in-house woodshop. The result is a beautiful family home which equally reflects the needs and aesthetics of its owners while maintaining cohesion with its historic neighborhood setting.
